ABOUT SUE
Mixed Media Artist living on Ngarrindjeri land and Kaurna land.
From an early age I have loved making things and feel renewed and inspired by spending time outdoors in nature.
My current mixed media art practice is a response to the natural world around me and in particular the sheep and cropping farm that has been my home for over 40 years. The changing seasons, the textures and colours of the land, the eucalypts and grasses that border the cropping and sheep grazing paddocks.
The farm also provides a bounty of materials that can be used for my textile and paper artworks. I love to walk and forage for leaves, gumnuts, weathered wood and rusty iron. They produce the colours and patterns on my botanically dyed textiles and papers and inspire the mixed media collage pieces I create.
"I am ever mindful of the fragility of the environment I live in and recycle and re-use materials whenever I have the opportunity."
The creative processes I am currently using and offering workshops in are:
- botanical printing on paper and fabric
- mark making on paper and fabric
- cyanotype
- gelli printing
- book making, junk journalling
- mixed media collage
- slow stitching
- paper making
